Training Trails

Thank you for joining me on our Training Trail. Wow what a great time we had last weekend at Glenreagh at our Basic Practical Supplement courses. A big thank you to Stephanie McColley and Ian Higgins from North West Region who came over to lead us all, also a big Bravo to those Leaders who put up their hands to assist with running sessions – I can see that we have some potential Trainers in the making.
After much to-ing and fro-ing we finally managed to get the numbers to run the Cub Scout (5 trainees), Scout (4) and Leader of Adults (4) courses, the numbers were low but combined they gave us the magical number to go ahead. It is so important that Leaders get their applications in to State Office by the course closing date as we wasted two weeks of chasing up Trainees to finish off modules and get their applications in, this means a delay in deciding whether the courses will run or not and also delays in notifying Trainees that they have been accepted – please remember this in the future.
The next courses on our Region calendar are:
29/30 July – Campfire Leaders – closing date 30 June
21/22 October – Joey Scout Basic Practical Supplement – closing date 22 September
21/22 October – Cub Scout Basic Practical Supplement – closing date 22 September
21/22 October – Scout Basic Practical Supplement – closing date 22 September
21/22 October – Venturer Basic Practical Supplement – closing date 22 September
21/22 October – Leader of Adults (Group Leaders) as above
Please remember that you will need to have completed ALL of your ELearning prior to the course closing date – that means your Basic Common Core modules and your Basic Sectional Techniques for the Section in which you will be working in. i.e Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturers, or Group Leaders. You also need to complete the E-Bullying module. If taking on a District or Region role this means you will be doing the Leader of Adults training as well. If you are unsure as to what to do then please ask now so that there will be no panic later on.
Our Region will also be running Advanced training this year – in the past few years ALL Advanced training has been done in Sydney – we have now been given the ok to do it in the North Coast Region so please think seriously about doing your Advanced training with us.
Mark the date on your calendar now and start doing the necessary ELearning.
11/12 November – Advanced Practical Supplement – closing date 20 October
If we get the numbers we plan to run all Sections i.e. Joey Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturers and Leader of Adults.
Hope to catch you on the Training Trail sometime soon – in the meantime keep Scouting and remember to have FUN
