North Coast Region Scouts

This year Splashdown was moved to the Mighty Clarence River and Scouts and Leaders alike had a great time paddling, swimming, capsizing and playing canoe Hockey.

Due to an algal bloom at Toonumbar Dam, Splashdown VII was relocated and what a location! The river, campground and camp food was perfect.

The weekend started with an educational session to help scouts prepare for canoe hikes and was followed up with an entertaining land-based demonstration of paddling, capsizing techniques and rescues.

For the rest of the day Scouts were given instruction on the river where they perfected their new skills in preparation for the following day’s activities, the canoe hike and everybody’s favourite…canoe hockey..where rules are vague and getting wet is everything.

BRAVO to Skip for organising another amazing camp and to all the Leaders and Scouts who made the weekend such a fantastic experience.
