Onboard a Leader
Wondering what steps you need to take to onboard a new leader?
See below, a step by step guide on what you need to do!
Have the new leader obtain a Working With Children's Check from the Office of the Childrens Guardian, click here!
Have the new leader register on ScoutHub as a "New Leader", find you group here!
Together with the leader, fill out an IAVP Phase 1, and ensure that all steps included in that document have been completed. Find the form here!
The Group Leader / Leader in Charge will need to download this reference check form and fill out by contacting two references provided by the new leader.
Respond to the email to obtain a National Police Check, this will be sent from a reporting body on behalf of Scouts NSW. This may take a little while to come through after your initial registration.
Respond to the email sent from Operoo on behalf of your local formation to setup/share your care profile.
Respond to the email from Office 365 sent on behalf of Scouts NSW to setup your Scout Email. It is a requirement that you use this email for Scouting purposes.
All paperwork (IAVP, Reference Checks) will need to be emailed to training@nsw.scouts.com.au
ATTENTION: If the new leader is currently a registered Adult Helper, then an A3 will need to be filled out and sent to memberservices@nsw.scouts.com.au at the same time that step 8 is completed. You will also need to note in your email to training, that this has been completed. Please also upgrade the member in ScoutHub from Adult Helper to New Leader.
Leader Training
The new leader will need to complete their:
Mandatory e-learning modules (Child Safe & WHS)
Scouting Preliminary: On-Demand Learning Modules
Scouting Essentials: On-Demand Learning Modules
Then the new leader will need to enrol in a Scouting Essentials residential course. Dates and locations can be found here!
Then after Scouting Essentials is completed, the leader will need to complete the final part of their Certificate of Proficiency.
For new Group Leaders (Program Support Leader):
Scouting Management: On-Demand Learning Modules
Scouting Management: residential course (dates can be found here)
Program Support Leader: On the Job Phases (At Any Time)
For new Leaders of Youth (Youth Program Leader):
Scouting Adventure: On-Demand Learning Modules
Scouting Adventure: residential course (dates can be found here)
Youth Program Leader: On the Job Phases (At Any Time)
